The International School of Medicine (ISM) in Kyrgyzstan is a top-ranked medical university which came into existence in March of 2003. The university is located in the capital city of Bishkek - the capital of the Kyrgyz republic.The weather in Bishkek is generally very pleasant.
International School of Medicine is a modern university with a comprehensive infrastructure and experienced faculty. The main emphasis in the creation of the ISM was on the creation of a modern dynamic educational institution that provides high-quality training and has a competitive potential in the market of medical education.
ISM Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan is registered in many of the leading international organizations of medical education including the World Health Organization (WHO), the Foundation for the Development of Medical Education and Science (FAIMER), the International Institute of Medical Education (IIME), the PhD Program in Biomedicine and Health in the EU (ORPHEUS).
There are 168 teachers in the ISM including 81 teachers with academic degrees. At present about 3500 students study in the school. Most of foreign students belong to India, Pakistan, South Korea, USA, Great Britain, Russia, Ukraine, Afghanistan, Japan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Turkey and Syria.
The building of the IUK is one of the oldest and most beautiful buildings of Bishkek that is located on a central street of the city. In addition to Bishkek campus, the university has three campuses which are located in the following cities: Osh and Jalal-abad (southern region of Kyrgyzstan) and in Karakol-city (Issyk-kul region of Kyrgyzstan).At present, structurally, the ISM has 9 administrative departments and 12 academic departments.
The university library possesses a unique book stock (above six thousand items) including traditional and new information-carrying mediums, among them there are books in the line of medicine: Therapy, Paediatric, Oncology, Dermatology, Gynaecology, Histology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Orthopaedic, etc.At this moment about 600 students and 80 teachers are registered in the library.
